Travel to Columbus went without a hitch. The kids had time to swim at the pool and
eveyone hit the bed early for the early wake up call, 4:14 AM. We went through
airport security quickly, much to out surprise. The flight to Phoenix was long but
we made it without a hitch. Arriving in Honolulu, we traveled via bus to Waikiki where
we allowed the kids to go to the beach for a little dip. Everyone slept well and we all had
breakfast in a resturant that was outdoors. Had to fight off birds. We traveled to
Diamond Head, an extinct volcano, and the kids had a hard time keeping up with Selina
climbing to the top of the caldera. We left Diamond Head and arrived at the Dole Pinapple
Plantation where the kids did the pinapple maze. Andrew Swing won.
We arrived at Turtle Bay Resort after a romp on Sunset Beach and were greeted by our
guest tour guides. We had dinner with the other choirs and played games outside, watched
a fire eater, and listened to polynesian drums. The festivities continued inside with the opening
ceremonies.
Next day we arrived at Brigham Young University and had a seven hour rehearsal with Henry Leck.
That evening we visited the Polynesian Cultural Center and had an opportunity to shop and take
in a show all about the different Polynesian cultures. Pretty awesome. All the kids are well, and
everyone has a smile. There is some jet lag, but we expect that to disapate by tomorrow.
