  Camerata Choir

For children in third through eighth grade.

Camerata Choir is our new combined choir.  It consists of two groups:  children in third through fourth grade and children in fifth through eighth grade.  In this level for third - fourth grade, children have demonstrated an ability to sing in tune. They improve their unison singing skills and begin singing in two parts. Beginning music literacy, vocal technique and the development of the voice begin at this level.  In this level for fifth - eighth grade, the children have demonstrated the ability to sing in parts. This is tested by singing rounds and in two parts. Part-singing skills are continued. Tone development and vocal techniques are stressed and sight singing is introduced. The children will also have the opportunity to sing in different languages.

In this choir, children may have a few more performance opportunities. Past choirs have performed in the WVSO’s production of La Boheme, appeared on stage with Casting Crowns and performed with B.E. Taylor. They also take part in ACC's Appalachian Festival of Young Voices that is held every other year (fifth-eighth grade only). The next Festival is in  June 2024.

Children have regular weekly rehearsals.
